What Ethos is

Ethos Philosopher is an iOS app for people who want to think more deeply about life, values, decisions, and meaning. It holds voice conversations, remembers what you have discussed, and keeps a history of your thinking as it evolves. The core companion is free.

Version 1.1 introduced voice cloning as part of the Ethos Plus subscription: record or upload a short sample of a voice — often a loved one's — and the companion responds in it. The recording is yours, the consent step is explicit, and you can delete it at any time. For many people this makes Ethos a place of remembrance as well as reflection: not a simulation of a person, but a familiar voice in a space built for thinking.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ethos Philosopher?

Ethos Philosopher is an iOS app for thinking out loud. It is an AI companion built for reflective conversation — about life, values, decisions, and meaning — with voice conversations, persistent memory, and a full history of your discussions.

How does the voice cloning feature work?

With the Ethos Plus subscription, you record or upload a short audio sample of a voice — often that of a loved one — and the companion can respond in that voice. The recording is provided by you, requires your explicit consent, and can be deleted at any time.

Is Ethos a grief app?

Ethos is a philosophy companion first. Many people use the voice feature to preserve and hear the voice of someone they have lost, which makes it meaningful for remembrance — but the app is built around reflection and conversation, not simulation of a person.

How much does Ethos cost?

The core companion — conversation, memory, and history — is free. Voice cloning is part of the paid Ethos Plus subscription, available in the app.

What platforms is Ethos available on?

Ethos is available for iPhone on the Apple App Store today. An Android version is planned.

Who owns the voice recordings?

You do. Voice samples are user-provided, consent-gated, and deletable at any time from within the app.
